Welcome to the Ranch

Meet Blake and Camryn! These two came from Wisconsin chasing a dream of simplicity and livestock. Lacking agricultural experience, they embraced the challenge, heading for North Dakota in a 30ft RV last Summer.

They found work at a ranch for the Summer until they stumbled upon an ad to work at Black Leg Ranch. They applied for the job thinking they would not get it knowing they didn’t quite have the experience. Blake and Camryn really took the time to make sure their applications, cover letters, and resumes were filled adequately showing how much it would mean to be apart of a family – a place to call their own as well. Upon their surprise, Jayce recognized their potential and desire, knowing without a doubt they were the perfect fit for the Ranch.

Blake and Camryn moved to Black Leg Ranch last Fall! Here they are truly finding out what it’s like to work on a Ranch in the middle of winter in North Dakota. With the guidance from Jerry and Jayce, the two have come a long ways and are really taking pride in their work. They have been feeding the livestock daily, ensuring animal well-being, and tackling overdue tasks. Camryn has also been able to help out with the Meat business and is great with customer service and order fulfillment. According to Jayce, Blake has exceptional fencing skills (which is saying a lot as Jayce is very particular about his fences). Blake states, “I wish I found an opportunity like Black Leg sooner in my life. I love this ranch and I love working with these cattle. I couldn’t picture myself at a better place than I am now. I am thankful for this opportunity and look forward to growing with the Doan family!”

Blake is an avid outdoorsman that loves to scout the land or wet a line any chance he gets. Camryn is always working on some kind of project; whether it’s painting, refurbishing furniture, or crafting. “Finding Black Leg was such a huge blessing. Months in and I still find myself constantly learning, growing, and pouring my heart into a business that aligns with all my values. There hasn’t been a day I don’t enjoy what I’m doing since I started on the ranch and I can’t wait to see where it takes us!”, states Camryn. When they’re not at work you can find them outside, usually with their two rescue dogs.

We’re happy to have them as part of the crew here at Black Leg Ranch. Help us welcome Blake and Camryn to North Dakota!
